  West Shore, Llandudno
Conwy Borough District Council had an old and decrepit public toilet serving beach visitors all year round and an increasing visitor population of surfers.

Councillors decided enough was enough, and that these visitors who bring valuable revenue into the area desrved better toilet services in return – and especially to keep them coming back.

The brief was to provide four unisex toilet cubicles, with one serving as a compliant disabled toilet, and an additional storage area for cleaners and consumables. It was also decided to have a pay-as-you-use shower for bathers and particularly for surfers.

Premier was commissioned to provide the new toilet building and to ensure Conwy corporate colours and logo re featured in the design. We hope the bathers and surfers appreciate their new facility and help to look after this investment by the Council on their behalf!

Wardown Park – Luton Borough Council
Of all the challenges put to Premier, this project ranks as challenging as they come. English Heritage have a major influence in the building environment of this park, and the new toilet was no exception.

Originally the client wanted to refurbish the existing building, because of its various structural features, all of which were templates for other building erected more recently in the park (see the newer kiosk building near the site). Premier recommended that the buildign was structurally unsound and the client was persuaded to replace it with new.

The Planners insisted the new toilet building followed the same theme adopted elsehwere in the park, and even demanded we use some of the original materials. If you look carefully at the photograph, you will see external decorative teracotta tiles on the walls; re-use of the original roof tiles, inlcuding ridge tiles and even the original finials.

It took considerable care to preserve these items during demolition of the original, but we hope you are impressed with the finished article. Other details such as the brick plinths around the lower perimeter and the secret down-pipe are just a few of the details imposed on us by a demanding, but now very satisfied client. Hard to believe it was allbuilt inside Premier's factory – except the roof slates of course!

Victoria Park, Aberfeldy – Perth & Kinross Council
Perth & Kinross Council are at the leading edge of UK Local Authorities who recognise the desperate need to provide high quality Public Toilets in Public Parks.

Following the success of the Premier Hygienic toilet installation in Larghan Park, Coupar Angus, P&KC contracted Premier Hygienic to design a Public Toilet in keeping with traditional Scottish architecture for such a compact building.

The result is a twin cubicle OSC (Off Site Constructed) building offering fully compliant DDA facilities and a Unisex cubicle with a storage and service area to the rear.

The Local Residents Association were deeply involved in both the design and the selection of materials used for the exterior, which included Scottish slates on the roof, and real 'random' stone to match surrounding buildings. The end result is a new toilet which serves park users seven days a week and looks perfectly in harmony with its idyllic surroundings.

New Public Toilet & Urinal – Pimlico for Westminster City Council
21st Century living demands the ultimate in design and innovation when it comes to the provision of Public Toilets, especially when they are located in densley populated areas, where such facilities are as much 'on call' at night, as they are in daylight hours.

This complex set of criteria faced Westminster City Council as they considered how best to respond to such diverse demands as: multiple user capacity / street urination / Doc M compliance / full automation (i.e. self cleaning) / robust but attractive construction / 24:7 availability.

Premier Hygienic pulled a perfect solution with the introduction to the UK of the first combi APT / Urinal from their French supplier MPS. With a structural concrete casing and stainless steel furniture, this unit can withstand heavy usage. But the toilet is finished with a 'white' polished exterior to blend with the surrounding Pimlico architecture.

The result is a very attractive building which looks perfectly "at home". The 'cultural' experiment will be to see the willingness of males to use the 'open' urinal, discretely hidden behind a privacy screen on one end elevation of the building. Full marks to WCC for tackling the wide range of challenges facing toilet providers, with such a pretty and innovative solution.

Canterbury City Council – 7 Steps..!
How do you convert an existing toilet building that is no longer "fit for purpose" (from the point of view of general upkeep and suitability as a safe 'unsupervised' facility)? Talk to Premier!

These photos show the seven simple stages of converting an existing toilet building from a traditional 'Ladies' & 'Gents' layout, to directly accessible cubicles for use by both. Not only are the toilet facilities brought up to date, the building is given a 'make-over' from its 70's styling!

Canterbury Council now provides citizens and visitors with all new toilets, all inside a 'new' building and all done in several easy steps! This approach offers benefits from a cost and time perspective – the cost being less than demolishing the existing and starting afresh – and the on-site time being reduced from a planning and construction point of view.

If you have existing toilets where the building is in good repair, or has perhaps 'Heritage' status and your objective is to provide state-of-the-art facilities but retain both location and overall appearance – talk to Premier!

Maritime Coastguard Rescue Station – Swanage   Maritime Coastguard Rescue Station – Swanage
“6 February 2009 - Chief Coastguard opens a new station at North Beach Car Park and on 7 February at 15.26, the last radio transmission from the Peveril Point Station is transmitted”.

Heralding a new era for the Coastguard, this project is a classic example of combining more than one Public Service facility within a single building. HM Coastguard and Swanage Town Council combined resources to provide a new Coastguard Station with new Public Toilets.

More efficient use of budgets; safer location to help reduce vandalism and higher profile in the public’s eyes for both services.

Premier wishes this “joint venture” every success in providing a double dose of essential public services!

St. Martins - Before

St. Martins - After

St. Martin's – Hereford
Herefordshire Council and local residents were weary of the continual vandalism of the public toilets at St Martins’ in Hereford (see picture).

Graffiti inside and outside were the least of the problems!

Premier were tasked with keeping the building but making a complete conversion from conventional Ladies & Gents toilets, to direct access Unisex cubicles.

The new toilets feature security devices such as remote locking and services located in a secure Service Area behind the cubicles.

Both public and Council now enjoy the benefits of toilets which offer comfort and security.

London Borough of Hillingdon – Barra Hall Park
Premier has been awarded an on-going contract with LBH to install new Public toilets in various places within the Borough. This first replaces a disused facility on the edge of a popular park. The unfortunate problems of anti-social behaviour often associated with 'communal' public toilets have virtually been illuminated with this directly accessible facility. LBH is now delighted to offer park visitors a comfortable and 'safer' public toilet which provides a Unisex Accessible WC and three Standard Unisex / Baby-Change cubicles – all exceeding the Good Loo Guide for generous internal space.

Perth & Kinross Council – Larghan Park   Perth & Kinross Council – Larghan Park
Perth & Kinross Council has been praised for responding to the need to provide Public Toilet facilities throughout this very popular tourist area. The toilets at Larghan Park had reached the end of their useful life and the Council decided to have a new 'modular' facility with full DDA and Unisex cubicles.

Premier's brief was to design the building to have a more 'urban' appearance, hence the green steel cladding instead of traditional brick or stone. The new facility looks superb in its surroundings and with a fully equipped service bay, will be kept to the high standards found elsewhere in the area

Lindfield Parish Council – Denmans' Lane Public Toilet   Lindfield Parish Council – Denmans' Lane Public Toilets
Premier was commissioned by this Parish Council to completely renovate the existing Public Toilet building by removing the 'communal' Ladies & Gents facilities and replace them with directly accessible cubicles.

The new building now provides a dedicated facility for disabled users and two cubicles designated as 'Unisex'. All cubicles have baby-changing facilities. One of the more challenging tasks was to reinstate the flint-stone panels which were successfully completed to the Client's delight. One more satisfied Customer!

Abbey Lane – Changing Places Toilet

Abbey Lane – Changing Places Toilet

Abbey Lane – Changing Places Toilet!
Sheffield City Council have been praised for responded to the growing need to provide Public Toilet facilities designed with profoundly disabled users in mind. These citizens and visitors are often obliged to plan their outings around the availability of such facilities.

Following is the Press Release on Sheffield City's web site:

NEW DISABLED LOO AT WOODSEATS
Disabled people in Woodseats are celebrating the opening of ‘state of the art’ toilet facilities close to the busy shopping centre.
The new public toilet in Abbey Lane was constructed ’off site’ - being built in a factory and delivered to the site….It has been clad in brick to fit in with the surroundings.

The new building contains ‘Changing Places’ equipment that includes an electric hoist and a height-adjustable changing bench. It is believed to be the first Changing Places unattended toilet provided by a local authority in the country.

Lynn Hobson of Gleadless said: “Changing Places give people with complex disabilities the freedom to enjoy the things which everyone else takes for granted. They give us a life!”

Councillor Steve Ayris, Cabinet member for Independent and Healthy Living said: “This will be a very welcome facility for the many disabled people and their carers in the Woodseats area.”
The new unisex toilet has automated locking and solar panels to supplement the electricity supply. It was built by Premier Hygienic.

Oakdown Caravan Park

Oakdown Caravan Park

  Oakdown Caravan Park
Premier was commissioned by this award winning holiday-park to design and build a completely new amenity building. The building had to include all the essential services to support this very popular and busy holiday location.

To be included were a Disabled Accessible Toilet & Baby Change Facility; Ladies toilets with shower cubicles and wash-basins; Gents toilets with shower cubicles, urinals and wash-basins; laundry room; service room and external 24/7 washing facilities (under cover).

In addition the brief demanded attractive render with local stone quoins and a traditional pitched and tiled roof.

Typical of Off Site Construction methods, the building was delivered and installed with minimum site-works, allowing the Park owners to put the building to use in a short time.

Premier toilet building for Herefordshire Council includes 1 DDA + 1 Baby-Change + 2 Unisex cubicles and a Service Bay. Modular design allowed the entire building to be assembled in the factory and shipped to site ready for connection to utility services. In this case the external cladding had to match surrounding buildings i.e. grey natural slate and red brick.

Herefordshire Council wanted to retain the existing toilet block but to feature individual street accessible cubicles with all the benefits of modern design and vandal resistance. The toilet cassettes were pre-assembled at Premier’s factory whilst the frontage and interior of the building were modified to suit.
